Background
Established in 2002 to alleviate poverty by growing vegetables and handing food parcels to needy families.
In the past, the organisation had around 120 people benefiting from the programme, beneficiaries included our staff members. Due to financial constrains we had to reduce the number to 37.
Services rendered
- Poverty alleviation
- Training on homestead gardening
- Provision of food parcels
Challenges
While there is expansion of services due to a huge need in our community there has been a decline in donor contribution towards the programme probably due to a combination of rising economic climate prevailing in our country or donor fatigue.
Living standards- The ever escalating food prices have posed a serious threat to our fight against the disease as people battle to put food on the table. Good nutrition, which is a basis for ARVs to function, is never readily available for the patients. It is an ongoing struggle to get funding for food parcels. |
